Whenever I’m watching this musical number in Anastasia, I like interjecting that there’s a rumor in LENINGRAD
seeing as this movie takes place directly after the Bolshevik Revolution. The Royal Family was executed in 1918 and Anastasia impostors started to surface in the 1920’s. At the time of the execution, the city was named Petrograd and later, Leningrad in 1924 after the death of that spunky revolutionary Vladimir Lenin. Subsequently, the city wasn’t renamed St. Petersburg until 1991 when the citizens voted to have it changed back to it’s original title. But ok, whatever rolls off the tongue better, Don Bluth.

My old mentors stopped by our high school studio to do a lecture on animation-type things. Wish I could’ve been there! If only college wasn’t so far from my hometown.
